The Islay Ferries issue of 2019 showed the three ferries serving Islay at the time. These were the MV Eilean Dhiura, MV Finlaggan and the MV Hebridean Isles.

 

MV Hebridean Isles was retired in late 2024. MV Finlaggan is due to be removed from the service in the near future and will become a relief vessel. 

The replacements for these ferries are intended to be the MV Isle of Islay and the MV Loch Indaal. MV Isle of Islay entered the service at the end of March 2026, while MV Lock Indaal remains under construction and her introduction to the fleet has been delayed. 
 

As MV Isle of Islay has been in service for some time, we felt we should update the Islay Ferries series with a stamp bearing a photograph of the new vessel. It is likely we will create a further addition to the ferries series when the MV Loch Indaal finally enters service.
 

The new ships are expected to serve Islay for several years.
